Three critical after North Belfast house fire

A man, woman and child are in a critical condition in hospital after a serious house fire in North Belfast.

The fire started at the house on Jamaica Street in the Ardoyne area of the city just before midnight on Thursday.

20 fire fighters tackled the blaze, with William Johnston of the Fire Service saying the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

He said: "There were lots of neighbours in and around the area who were alerting the crews to some personnel trapped within the house.

"We removed the casualties from the premises and the fire crews worked with the paramedics to look after them.

"They were unconscious at the time and were taken to, I think, the Royal Victoria Hospital by the paramedics."

The PSNI have asked anyone with any information to contact them.
