Three men arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of dissident UDA man John Boreland have been released.

The three, aged 37, 40 and 38, were arrested on Friday after Boreland was shot last Wednesday evening.

He was travelling in a car with Andre Shoukri when a breeze block was thrown at the car on the Ballysillan Road.

Both men got out to confront their attackers.

When they did, they were shot at.

One bullet hit Boreland, 44, in the leg.

The three have been released pending a report to the PPS.
