Teen charged in scrambler death

A teenager has been charged with the death of a woman who was hit by a scrambler in Colin Glen Forset Park in West Belfast on Tuesday evening.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with death by dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

Valerie Armstrong died from her injuries on Wednesday night.

The mother-of-three was walking her dog in the park when she was struck by the scrambler. Her family have decided to donate her organs.

The teenager reportedly stayed with Mrs Armstrong at the scene until the ambulance arrived.

He also is said to have cooperated fully with police during questioning and wept during court proceedings.

A 15-year-old boy is currently on police bail in connection with the incident.
