Police appeal after girl appears to attack two women in Botanic gardens

The PSNI have made an appeal for witnesses after a teenage girl was caught on video appearing to attack walkers in Belfast's Botanic Gardens yesterday.

The incident was caught on camera by a park-goer who was making the most of the beautiful spring weather.

A PSNI spokesperson said that police attended the scene shortly before 4pm yesterday.

They added: "Police attended the scene and a 25 year old male was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.  A 17 year old female was also arrested on suspicion of common assault.  Both are currently in custody helping police with their enquiries.

“We are aware that there may have been other assaults in the area today and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage to contact 101 quoting reference 790 of 04/05/2017.  Or, alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
