Man has bail conditions relaxed to attend Madness concert

Northern IrelandBy Jamie McDowell

A man who is due to stand trial for a shooting in Belfast in 2010 has had his bail conditions relaxed so he can attend a concert.

Patrick Joseph O'Neill, of no fixed address, is due to stand trial later this year over a shooting in November of that year - charges he denies.

On Tuesday of this week, he applied for a relaxation of his bail conditions, which was granted, so that he could attend a Madness concert later this month.

The Belfast Crown Court judge allowed Mr O'Neill's conditions to be changed for one day only, so he could stay out until midnight for the gig at the Belsonic festival.

The 41-year-old denies charges of wounding with intent and possession of a Glock pistol with intent.
