Loyalist band's bus burned out in Dervock

A bus belonging to the Dervock Young Defenders has been burned out in County Antrim.

The fire started as the bus was parked outside Orange hall on the Carncullagh Road in the town.

It was reported to police at around 5.30am on Friday morning.

Darryl Wilson of the Ulster Unionist party claimed the attack was arson.

He said: "This was not only an attack on the band, but an attack on the entire village as the bus was utilised by the community on many occasions throughout the year."

Inspector Michael McDonnell of the PSNI said: "The cause of the fire is being investigated and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward."
