Large drugs and cash find in Omagh area

Police in Omagh have uncovered drugs said to have a street value of up to £80,000.

Cannabis and Diazepam were found during searches carried out yesterday.

A large amount of money believed to be the proceeds of crime was also seized.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged ton several counts of possession and the intent to supply drugs.

Inspector Scott Fallis stated: “This is a very significant seizure of drugs in the Omagh area, and one which must be welcomed. Selling drugs, regardless of what they are, within our community, and in many cases to our young people, is repugnant. Many young lives are destroyed by drug dealers preying on their vulnerabilities. Life-long dreams and aspirations disappear as dealers get people hooked on these substances, while they the dealers line their pockets with cash.”

As is normal procedure, all charges are reviewed by the PPS.
