Hammer attack accused released on bail

A 24-year-old Belfast man who stands accused of choking his brother until he passed out and attacking his father with a hammer has been released on bail.

Aaron Vize, 24, from Florenceville Drive in Belfast, wept as he was told he would have to pay £300 bail with a £500 surety.

He faces six charges including assault, grievous bodily harm aggravated burglary at his father's home on November 18.

A court heard that there was a history of incidents between the accused and his father.

The judge ordered Mr Vize that he is not to enter the Ormeau area, is to wear an electronic tag and to abstain from drinking alcohol.

He is to appear in court again on December 16.
