Police appeal after serious sexual assault in County Armagh last month

The police have appealed for information following a serious sexual assault in which took place in Lurgan, County Armagh, last month.

The assault happened in a layby in the Tannaghmore North Road area of the town at around 6.30pm on December 8.

Police say the assailant was described as having a beard and having a local Lurgan accent.

It is thought he is aged between 30 and 40.

He was wearing a dark hoodie and dark trousers and is over 5ft 5in tall. 

Detective Inspector Lynne Knox would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who has information to contact Detectives at the Rape Crime Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 452 03/01/17. Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
