21-year-old shot in the legs in Belfast

A 21-year-old man has been shot in both legs in Belfast.

The incident happened in the Whiterock area of the city.

At around 10pm yesterday evening the man was attacked in a so-called paramilitary 'punishment' shooting in the Ardmonagh Parade area. 

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Mark McHaffie would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who has information to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave PSNI station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1178 06/01/17.  Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
