Northern Ireland to vote on EU referendum

The people of Northern Ireland have gone to the polls today to vote in the EU referendum.

The referendum will decide whether or not the United Kingdom will stay in the European Union or leave.

Polls opened at 7am this morning and will stay open until 10pm.

Over 1.2 million people  in Northern Ireland are registered to have their say in the vote. 

Photo ID will be necessary in order to vote, such as a UK/Irish passport, valid driving licence or an electoral identity card.

Translink Smartpasses for the blind, war veterans, 60+ and seniors will also be accepted. 

The ballot paper will have a simple layout, looking like this:
