Luas staff explain to passengers at St Stephen's Green about the fault

Luas have announced that due to a technical fault Green Line services have been cancelled for the remainder of today.

The service was suspended this morning just at the peak time for traffic and initially the operators said that the line would be down until at least 'after peak time'.

Now they have updated their advice to say the Green Line service from St Stephen's Green to Bride's Glen is out of service for the rest of the day.

The exact nature of the issue hasn't been made clear, with the official statement saying simply it is a 'technical fault'.

Passengers with valid tickets can use them on Dublin Bus and Finnegans coaches are operating between Dundrum and Brides Glen Luas stops.

The Red Line service is operating normally.
