WATCH: Video captures brawl between football fans
An Everton fan who stepped in to try and break up a fight at a motorway service station ahead of the FA Cup Semi-Final was set upon by three Manchester United fans who quickly punched him to the ground before stamping on him.
The brutal brawl broke out in front of terrified children as rival fans stopped at the same service station in Staffordshire.
Videos posted online show at least three young men throwing punches in front of shocked onlookers.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police confirmed they were called to a disturbance at the services but when officers arrived the incident had ended. No arrests were made.
They added that officers had been patrolling the services for “reassurance” during the arrival of 57 supporter coaches through the day.
“I saw all the chanting and made my way over for a bit of what I thought to be light-hearted banter,” one witness said.
