WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES: Dog used for baiting has ear bitten off
A dog kennels in Ballybogey, County Antrim, has released pictures of a dog which had its ear bitten off after being used for baiting.
Benvardin kennels took to Facebook to publish the horrific photos.
The German Shepherd/Greyhound cross also suffered puncture wounds to the neck so deep that staff at the rescue centre couldn't put a collar on it without causing further trauma.
The dog was found wandering around the Moyle area on Monday.
Kelly Davidson of Benvardin said: "He’s in a bad way and there are old wounds as well as fresh ones which you’ll see when ever who ever’s using these dogs do a patch up job so they partially heal and leave scars.
"The nature of the wounds would be consistent with him having been used as a bait dog.
“There have been a number of similar cases reported at other animal homes over recent weeks of dogs being found with similar injuries.”
