Manchester United's game against Bournemouth has been abandoned after a suspected bomb scare.

Police with sniffer dogs were seen arriving at the ground after reports that a suspect package was found in North West corner of Old Trafford.

Two stands were evacuated shortly before Manchester United’s final Barclays Premier League game of the season against Bournemouth was due to kick off.

At around 2.40pm an announcement was made for security personnel to invoke ‘operation red code’ and it soon became evident fans were leaving the South Stand and Stretford End.

Initially the North Stand and the East Stand, where the Bournemouth supporters were seated, did not appear to be affected.

However, the game has now been called off.
