Two injured as fire breaks out in Dublin city centre

This was the scene in Dublin this afternoon after a fire broke out in the city centre.

Two women were hospitalised after they were rescued from the burning building on upper Kevin Street as four units of Dublin Fire Brigade were deployed to the scene.

One woman in her 70s was taken from the balcony of the building and was being treated at St James’s Hospital for smoke inhalation.

A second woman from a neighbouring apartment was also rushed to hospital but her injuries were unknown.

A Garda investigation is now underway.
