Two charged with conspiracy to supply heroin

Two men charged with conspiracy to supply heroin are due to appear in court later today after being arrested yesterday.

The men, aged 24 and 30 will appear at Belfast Magistrate's Court.

They are also charged with possession of criminal property.

A 26-year-old man who was arrested remains in custody, while two others, aged 40 and 50, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The five were arrested on the Antrim Road yesterday by the PSNI Reactive and Organised Crime Branch.

Detective Inspector Andy Dunlop said: “Heroin is a deadly substance which devastates families and wrecks lives. Police are responding to community concerns about the incidence of this drug and are taking appropriate action.

“To those people who may have a heroin dependency, I would urge them to seek help from our statutory and voluntary partners. To the general community, I would again appeal for information on those suspected of involvement in the supply of all controlled drugs. Please phone the police on 101 or, alternatively, phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
