Two arrested after cannabis herb worth €300,000 is discovered by gardai

A man and a woman in their 40s were in custody last night after cannabis herb worth €300,000 was discovered by gardai.

Gardaí from the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau supported by the Special Crime Task Force discovered the large quantity of drugs when they searched the car in Kilcock.

The occupant of the car was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Leixlip Garda Station.

During a follow up search a further quantity of cannabis herb was discovered at a house in the north inner city area of Dublin.

A woman aged in her late 40s was arrested at the scene. She is detained at Store Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. They can both be detained for up to seven days.

“Today’s operation is part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Dublin and Kildare regions,” gardai said.
