Ian Dempsey’s anger over RTE failing to mention the passing of Tony Fenton on the Late Late Show has struck a chord on Twitter.

The Today FM star said he was surprised the show's producers "didn't give [him] even 30 seconds" on Friday night given that he had spoken to Ryan Tubridy ahead of The Late Late Show.

He wrote on Twitter, “Got a personal call from Ryan Tubridy today so I’m surprised that Late Late Show producers didn’t give Tony Fenton even 30 seconds.”

His tweet was re-tweeted over 200 times and attracted over 400 favourites by this evening with some tweeters agreeing with him.

‘What the hell. That is REAL bad form…offered one while another added: ‘Another reason not to watch it (the Late Late Show).

Another offered their condolences to Ian after he lost his friend.

The radio star passed away on Thursday evening, after a long battle with prostate cancer.

The much-loved presenter had worked for RTE for 18 years before moving to Today FM, and had acted as a mentor to many of RTE's top stars.

However, Ryan Tubridy did offer a special tribute to the presenter on his 2FM show on Friday.

Speaking in the morning, he said he was upset at hearing of Tony’s passing adding that, “if you believe in heaven, the good news is that heaven just got itself a DJ”.

“I started in RTE some years ago, when I was about 23 or 24 and I was running around making tea and coffee for whoever would take it from me.

“Then one of the guys turned around and said: ‘You seem like a nice fellow, you can come and help me out and work with me a little bit’ and that was Tony," he added.
