Three injured after crane collapses

Three men have been injured after a crane collapsed at the Port Road near Lisahally docks in Derry this morning.

Two of the men suffered neck and back injuries with the third sustained minor injuries.

It has been reported that the men fell on to a boat after a crane they were working on toppled over.

The Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene.

Sinn Féin MLA Raymond McCartney said: "My thoughts and prayers are with the injured workers.

"Obviously there will be a Health and Safety investigation which must be carried out as exhaustively and thoroughly as is possible.

"The Health and Safety of workers must be paramount in every working environment and the results and any recommendations emanating from any investigation must be rigorously implemented and adhered to."
