Stars sparkle on magical night for Irish film industry
Irish movie A Date For Mad Mary won the top prize at last night’s IFTA awards, on a night where Irish war movie The Siege of Jadotville, TV series Vikings, and actresses Amy Huberman and Charlie Murphy were among the big winners.
A Date For Mad Mary and The Siege of Jadotville took the top spoils, grabbing two and three awards respectively in what was a very scattered and widely spread field.
Young Irish actor Paddy Gibson, who has seen his star power rise thanks to his role in hit Netflix supernatural series The OA, was the winner of the Rising Star Award.
The awards, which took place last night at Dublin’s Mansion House, were regarded as one of the most competitive of recent years following a strong year for movie and TV production.
