VIDEO: Volley of shots fired over the coffin of Peggy O'Hara in Derry

A video has emerged of a volley of shots being fired over the coffin of Peggy O'Hara in Derry

The incident happened yesterday evening at around 8pm.

A masked gunman emerged before firing a volley of shots above her coffin in the Buncrana Road area of Derry.

Ms O'Hara was the mother of INLA hunger striker Patsy O'Hara who died in 1981 after being on hunger strike for 61 days.

He'd been imprisoned after being convicted of possession of a hand grenade.

The funeral of 84-year-old Ms O'Hara will take place on Saturday.

Foyle DUP MLA Gary Middleton has made a plea for the PSNI to take urgent action after the shots were fired in a  public place.

He said: "It's a disgrace that this outrage should have been permitted to take place. I want the police to take action as a matter of urgency.

"I am sure that there are many people in the area who would not be at all happy at this terrorist display involving the firing of weapons close to their homes."
