Shock for Aslan singer Christy Dignam as cancer returns
Dublin singer Christy Dignam has revealed his cancer has returned.
The 57-year-old Aslan star received the news this week after a routine blood test.
Christy was diagnosed with Amyloidosis, a blood cancer, in 2013 and underwent chemotherapy at the time.
"It was the worst news I could get, that this negative protein is growing inside my body," he told the Irish Sun on Sunday.
"All I can do now is more chemo but I'm not confident. Your blood develops and immunity to treatment so there's no guarantee it's going to work."
Christy revealed that while he looks healthy he is in a lot of pain.
"So many people have died in the past few years like the great journalist George Byrne, and David Bowie," he said.
"I consider these people the life and times of Aslan. If they're gone, maybe I should be gone too."
Christy is currently working on an album with Finbar Fury and is aiming to play the Iveagh Gardens on July 7 with Aslan.
