Search for missing kayak man resumes
The search resumed today for 47-year-old Robert Hanna from Carrickfergus after he failed to return from a kayak trip off the Antrim coast.
He had set out at 1.30pm on Monday from Portmuck, but the alarm was raised after 3pm when there was still no sign of Mr Hanna.
A joint search by the Irish Coast Guard, the Royal Navy, the PSNI and the RNLI was called off at 3.30am this morning before being resumed at 7am.
RNLI Divisional Operations Manager, Darren Byers, said: "Our volunteers have had a short break to rest and refuel their lifeboats but are now back out and will be making every attempt this morning to find the missing kayaker and bring him home.
"Our thoughts and prayers are very much with the man and his family at this time."
