Gardai investigating after woman and man shot with small calibre pistol
A woman, who was initially reported to be pregnant, and a man, were shot last night in the Grange View Lawn area of Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
The man and woman, believed to be in their 20s, were both taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital.
The man was shot in the stomach, while the woman suffered injuries to her arm.
Reports indicate that the injured man, who is originally from Ballyfermot, was recently warned by gardaí that his life was in danger. He is believed to have been the gunman's intended target.
The weapon used in the attack is believed to have been a small calibre .22 pistol, which resulted in less serious injuries. The victims' wounds are not believed to be life threatening.
Gardaí sealed off the area and detectives were searching for a motorbike which left the scene after the shooting.
Other reports suggested that the gunman had used a pedal cycle, but this was also unconfirmed.
The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination and gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information about the incident to come forward.
