Police investigation is launched in the UK after Irishman found dead in Luton
A police investigation has been launched in the UK after an Irishman was found dead in Luton over the weekend.
Kevin Kelly, 27, died following an altercation in the early hours of Sunday morning in the north London suburb.
He was originally from Goresbridge in Co Killkenny but had been living in Luton for some time, where it's understood he worked for his own plastering company.
Police say they were made aware of an altercation on Upper George Street at approximately 4.15am on May 1.
Mr Kelly was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Wall, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit (MCU), said: "There may have been several people in the area making their way home at the end of a night out and from CCTV we believe there may be witnesses to the incident.
"I'm appealing for anyone who saw the altercation, or who witnessed anything of note in the area around this time, to get in touch to help us piece together what happened."
Police said a 23-year-old man from Luton was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and was released on bail.
A Crowd Funding page has been setup to help raise funds to bring Kevin's body home.
