Three hospitalised in aggravated burglaries in Antrim

Three people have been hospitalised after two aggravated burglaries in County Antrim.

The first took place at an address on Greenland Parade in Larne at around 10pm last night.

It was reported that a number of masked men forced their way into a house in the area and assaulted a man with batons.

The man, aged in his 50’s, was taken to hospital for treatment.

In the early hours of this morning two occupants were attacked at an address on the Ballybogey Road in Ballymena.

At around 1.25am a number of masked men forced their way into a house in the area and assaulted the male and female occupants.

Both of the victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

A 50-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of aggravated burglary and assault.

He is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

Meanwhile in Ballyclare, police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in the street.

The incident happened on the Mill Road last night, shortly before 6.25pm

A man in his 40s was walking in the area when he was approached by an unknown male who asked him for money.

When the victim refused, a struggle ensued.

The suspect punched the man to the head before making off with a sum of cash. The man suffered swelling to the side of his face as a result.

The suspect is described as being tall, with short black hair and wearing glasses. He was wearing a red coloured coat and blue jeans.
