One person shot and four others injured in wedding shooting at upmarket Waldorf Astoria hotel
One person was shot and four others were injured when a wedding celebration at the upmarket Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York descended into chaos last night.
A guest accidentally discharged a gun, according to The New York Times, resulting in four people taken to hospitals for treatment while one with a minor injury was treated at the Waldorf.
The Waldorf is one of Manhattan's most prestigious hotels.
Bill Aubry, chief of Manhattan detectives, told reporters that one person was hit by gunfire and three others were struck by debris such as glass, marble and tile, according to the Times.
Police tape was strewn across the access area to the hotel's east terrace, which had been closed to hotel guests as the reception occurred there.
