Newborn baby found abandoned in Dublin
A newborn baby has been discovered abandoned in west Dublin.
Herald.ie are reporting that a member of the public made the discovery this afternoon at around 3pm and they called the emergency services.
Paramedics then arrived and took the baby to Tallaght Hospital.
The baby is reported to be in a stable condition in Tallaght Hospital. The search continues for the mother as the baby is understood to have only been a few hours old when discovered.
UPDATE: 17:18: The Gardai have issued the following statement
Gardaí attended the scene of a medical incident at Rathcoole, County Dublin this afternoon, Friday 8th May 2015 at approximately 3.30pm. A newborn baby girl was discovered alone and alive close to a business premises on Steelstown Road, Rathcoole.
The child was tended to at the scene by medical staff and Gardaí and was taken to Tallaght Hospital. The baby’s condition is described as stable.
Superintendent Brendan Connolly, speaking today at Clondalkin Garda station made the following appeal, "Gardaí are concerned for the welfare of the mother of this child and are appealing for her to seek immediate medical treatment and to contact Gardaí who are anxious to reunite her with her baby”.
