The search for Ireland's newest Lotto millionaire is over as the owner of Friday's wining ticket worth €2m has claimed their prize today.

Yesterday we reported that the shop, Tesco Extra on the Donore Road, just off the M1, had no idea who had bought the ticket.

Well now the search for the winner of Friday's jackpot can be called off as the owner of the winning €4 quick pick has come forward to claim their prize at National Lottery HQ today.

Speaking to the Mirror, the unnamed winner from Meath said:

"My emotions are all over the place. One minute I'm laughing, the next I'm crying.

"I've been awake since 2am this morning. It's just so surreal – did this really happen?

"I always thought that one day I would win the Lotto, but now it’s actually happened, I’m blown away.

"I keep thinking 'why me'? It's like a dream, but it has come true! I've had some tough times in my life and now I feel overwhelmed by this good fortune."

As for what she plans to do with the money, the lucky winner was not going to go too crazy: "We’ll all have a treat each and I’ll buy a few things just for me."
