Nazi and Confederate flag pictured flying in Carrick
A Nazi flag has been photographed flying alongside a Confederate flag near a bonfire in Carrickfergus.
The flags appeared at the bonfire in the Glenfield estate.
The appearance of the emblems has sparked outrage in the local community, with Alliance MLA Stewart Dickson hitting out at those who erected the banners.
He said:"This is a deplorable move, particularly coming only days after the debate around the flying of the Confederate flag.
"These sorts of actions are not representative of the vast majority of people in Carrick and I know they will join me in utterly condemning it and the evil it stands for."
The flags have since been removed.
In a statement, a spokesperson from the Orange Order said: "The Orange Institution is not responsible for the erection of these flags in Carrickfergus.
"Such flags are utterly reprehensible and bring shame on loyalist communities.
"They should be removed immediately and consigned to the dustbin of history."
The police are currently investigating.
