Miriam O'Callaghan "shocked" after her home is targeted by burglars
RTE star presenter Miriam O'Callaghan’s home has been targeted by burglars.
The Prime Time host, who lives in Rathgar in south Dublin, had her car keys stolen in a so-called "fishing" theft.
Reports in the Herald reveal that the 56-year-old mother of eight woke last weekend to find her Audi had been stolen while she and her children slept
“Fishing” is the use a magnetic rod which robbers put through the letterbox of a home to snatch car keys from inside the victim's home, without them having to physically break into the property.
An RTE source told the Herald that Miriam and her husband Steve Carson were "deeply shocked" over the incident.
"It was a horrible thing to wake up to and came as a terrible shock to them and the whole family," the source revealed.
"Though the thieves weren't physically in the house, the fact they were still able to target them and steal the car was deeply unsettling."
Officers at Rathmines Garda station are investigating the incident.
