McGuigan murder: Man appears in court of firearms charge

A 53-year-old man has appeared in court today over a firearms offence as a result of searches carried out by police investigating the murder of Kevin McGuigan.

Patrick Fitzpatrick appeared at Lisburn Magistrate's Court charged with carrying a Glock pistol with intent to endanger life.

Bail was refused after a police officer told the judge that Mr Fitzpatrick remained a suspect in the Kevin McGuigan murder.

Fitzpatrick is from the Lagmore area of Belfast.

It is understood he was the victim of a gun attack in the early 2000's outside a shopping centre in the Annadale are of Belfast, which resulted in the loss of one of his kidneys.
