Soren Buchtrup, who lost his wife and daughter in a crash in Poland, has posted an emotional tribute on Facebook.

Soren Buchtrup said he and his wife Yvonne Buchtrup -- a daughter of the well known Limerick horse trainer John Long -- along with their daughter Ella, (2), and six-month old son Noah, were parked up in their family car at Nowy Targ, Poland, when another vehicle smashed into them.

The family of four had been on route back to their home in Norway after attending a friend's wedding when the fatal collision happened.

Ms Buchtrup, originally from Curraghchase, Kilcornan, and Ella, who would have turned the years old in August, were killed instantly. Her husband and son escaped serious injury.

In a loving online tribute to his wife and daughter, Mr Buchtrup said "words could not describe" his feelings.

Below a posting of pictures of his wife and daughter on his Facebook page, he said: "Here is the two most important girls in my life, whom I cherish and love very very much. First my little girl Ella who is just starting her life. Always full of dancing, singing and laughter. Always ready to sing "Twinkle twinkle little star" when Noah starts to cry."

The Danish pilot who has a teenage son Magnus from a previous relationship added: "(Ella) Always says she loves Magnus when I tell her I love her. Always comes running with open arms when either mum or dad have been gone for more than a few minutes. She just yesterday asked to take a selfie. My big little girl."

"Then my wonderful and loving wife Yvonne who always lightens up any room she enters and who touches anyones heart. Always telling me we are soulmates and that she loves me, even when I'm being difficult. So full of life and ideas always, and never too old to arrange and play funny games with anyones kids. My little big girl."

He added: "Today these two wonderful girls were abruptly and brutally taken away from us near Nowy Targ in Poland... Noah and I escaped with just minor physical injuries. Words cannot describe the feelings."

Mr Buchtrup said: "I feel I have lost everything, but I still have the two most important boys in my life. I will keep cherishing and loving them forever together with the beautiful memories and love of Yvonne and Ella."

He ended his tribute poignantly: "Bye my girls. Only love is real."

Earlier today Yvonne's father John Long spoke of the family's grief.
