Man stabbed in High Street of city centre

A man has been stabbed in the back in Belfast's city centre.

The attack took place on High Street at around 9.25pm last night.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses.

The 19-year-old victim was taken to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. His condition is described as serious but stable.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man shortly after the attack and he is currently being questioned in custody.

Detective Sergeant Conor Sweeney is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information about the incident to contact Detectives in Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
