Man with UDA involvement shot in the leg in Carrickfergus

A man in his 50s has been shot in the leg in Carrickfergus, County Antrim.

The Sunday World understands the man had some kind of involvement with UDA.

He was walking in the Castlemara estate in the seaside town at around 7.30pm when he was approached by three masked men.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated for a single bullet wound to the calf.

The three masked men then fled.

The police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
