Man charged over bomb attack on catholic police officer
A 38-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a bomb attack on a catholic police officer in 2008.
A booby-trap bomb was placed under the car of the victim near Castlederg, County Tyrone, by dissident republicans.
The off-duty officer was pulled from the car by a member of the public.
Detectives from Serious Crime Branch have charged him with attempted murder, causing an explosion likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property and belonging to or professing to belong to a proscribed organisation.
He will appear at Strabane Magistrate's Court this morning later today with the case being reviewed by the PPS.
