A man in Australia has been charged with the murder of a County Down woman who was stabbed to death in the Australian bush 33 years ago.

Elizabeth Dixon, 31, was found in her car in bushland north of Sydney, New South Wales, on April 6, 1982.

A jogger found her body slumped over the steering wheel of her yellow 1977 Mazda. She had been stabbed 27 times in a frenzied attack.

She had her hands tied behind her back with a shoelace and had been beaten about the head with a blunt object.
