Man arrested for gangland murder of Tallaght man found in forest

Gardai in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow have arrested a man, this morning in relation to the murder of Paul 'Frank' Byrne.

The 20-year old, was reported missing from his home in Tallaght on 15th July, 2009 and his skeletal remains were discovered at Ballyfolan, Blessington, Co. Wicklow on 29th July, 2010.

The arrested man, aged 22, is currently detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984 as amended, at Bray Garda Station.

Byrne, was last seen at Kilmartin Green, Tallaght on that date.

He was reported missing to Gardai in Tallaght Garda Station by his mother the next day and a missing persons investigation was undertaken.

The investigation was subsequently taken over by Gardai in Baltinglass Garda Station following the discovery of Paul 'Frank' Byrne's skeletal remains by a forestry worker felling trees in a remote area at Ballyfolan, Blessington, Co. Wicklow on 29th July, 2010.

Identification of his remains was made by way of DNA profile.
