Man arrested after lorry containing donated items bound for Chernobyl was broken into

A man in his early 20s was arrested shortly after a lorry containing donated items bound for Chernobyl was broken into in Kilkenny yesterday afternoon.

It is understood a number of items were damaged and up to 12,000 nappies were stolen.

The lorry, which is used by the Kilkenny branch of Chernobyl Children International, was parked in the Hebron Industrial Estate when the incident happened.

The contents are believed to have been worth up to €140,000.

A man in his early 20s was arrested shortly after the incident and was subsequently charged.
