Major rescue operation underway in Limerick
A major rescue operation is underway in Limerick this afternoon.
Early reports suggested that three workmen have fallen from the Thomand Bridge into the River Shannon.
There were also reports that rescue teams had been performing CPR on some of the casualties.
The Garda press office said a rescue operation involving the fire service, Coastguard and gardaí was underway.
“The men were working in a cage when a cabl snapped and it fell into the river,” he said.
“A rescue operation is underway and one man had been rescued.
“We have no other details on the two other two men as of yet.”
