Loyalists to make announcement on new 'council' today
Loyalists are set to announce a new Loyalist Community Council later today.
The announcement comes on the 21st anniversary of the combined loyalist ceasefire, as parties in Stormont resume talks to resolve the current political stalemate.
The news also comes as it has emerged the police have found significant new evidence in the Kevin McGuigan murder.
It has been reported that two keys have been found in alleyway the killers of the 53-year-old father-of-nine used to escape.
A gate to the alley, which is normally locked, was open on the night of the murder, allowing the attackers to flee.
It has also been alleged that the keys belong to Belfast City Council, and were issued to a South Belfast community worker and the PSNI.
Former US Senator Gary Hart is in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland on a three-day visit.
He will meet Secretary of State Theresa Villiers later in an attempt to help resolve the current situation before travelling to Dublin to meet with Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
