LE Niamh plucks 468 migrants from the Mediterranean in the last two days
The LE Niamh has been in action again on the Mediterranean where the naval ship has plucked 468 migrants from the sea in the last two days.
The first operation was carried out 110 kilometres north-west of Tripoli in Libya yesterday.
A total 358 migrants were saved from a wooden barge.
The Irish naval vessel then travelled with two Italian Coast Guard vessels to south of Lampedusa, taking a further 110 people on board.
The migrants were all disembarked at Pozzallo in Sicily yesterday morning (SAT).
