There was huge excitement and joy on the faces of a large crowd of family members who gathered at Dublin Airport today to welcome home soldiers the 47th Infantry Group.

The 181 troops have returned following a six month tour in Lebanon.

 The 47th Infantry Group are drawn primarily from the Army No 1 Brigade encompassing personnel from the Munster and Connacht regions.

They were deployed to Lebanon in mid-November and had operated on the ground as part of the Finnish, Irish battalion.
