Huge fire in Derry at Brickkiln recycling plant

Eleven fire appliances are currently tackling a blaze at the former Brickkiln recycling plant on the Electra Road in the city.

City of Derry Airport has said that flights will not be affected.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said: "Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service is currently attending a report of a building on fire at business premises in the Electra Road area of the city this morning.

"Two fire appliances from Crescent Link Fire Station, three from Northland Fire Station, two from Strabane, three from Omagh Fire Station and one from Dungiven have been deployed to the scene. 

"The call received at 8:38am this morning.

“There are no further details at this stage.”
