LATEST: French athlete Denis Chevrot wins Dublin’s inaugural Ironman 70.3 triathlon
With a time of 4.01.35, French athlete Denis Chevrot has won Dublin’s inaugural Ironman 70.3 triathlon .
UK sportswoman Susie Cheethman was the first woman to cross the finish line with a time of 4.27.09.
Competitors from all across the world took part in the first ever Ironman race today.
The 2,500 athletes swam, cycled and ran the course that started in Dun Laoghaire and finished in the Phoenix Park.
Thousands of people lined out along the route to cheer on the athletes.
The swim took place in Scotsman’s Bay, Dun Laoghaire.
The bike course was a 100km loop from Dun Laoghaire, through the city centre and Pheonix Park taking in Dunboyne, Kilcock and Maynooth.
The cyclists then returned to the Pheonix Park where the run took place.
All bridges over the Liffey have reopened.
