Four people dead and child injured in Texan apartment shooting

Four people are dead and a child is injured after a shooting at an apartment complex, according to the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office.

The Bastrop Police Department said they received reports of shots being fired at 6:14 p.m. at an apartment complex located at 202 Childers Drive. Bastrop PD and the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office responded.

Bastrop Police Detective Vicky Steffanic said that one adult male, two adult females and a child were dead at the scene. One child was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

The shooter is among the deceased and there is no threat to the public, Detective Steffanic said. 

The identities of the victims have not been released.

Residents of the apartment complex were allowed back in their apartments shortly before 10 p.m.

A joint investigation between the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office, Bastrop Police Department and the Texas Rangers is ongoing.
