Flight evacuated after bomb disposal officers remove woman from plane
A LONDON-bound British Airways flight was evacuated after police discovered a woman trying to travel to Ireland with a suspected false passport was on board.
Bomb disposal officers dismantled her seat as a precaution after she was taken off the plane at Ibiza Airport minutes before take-off and the other passengers asked to leave.
The BA flight to London City airport left more than two hours late at 2.20pm yesterday/on Friday as a result.
Police sources said the woman, thought to be Iranian, was intending to travel to Dublin after a stopover in London.
A passenger on board the plane told a local paper in Ibiza the incident had caused panic.
A Civil Guard spokesman confirmed passengers had been asked to leave the plane because of an “incident on board” so officers could work more efficiently.
Two months ago an Air Berlin plane due to fly from Ibiza to Palma was evacuated after a passenger spotted a rat on board.
