Elderly man in the UK believed to be victim of Storm Desmond

An elderly man in the UK is believed to have become a victim of Storm Desmond after he was killed after being hit by a bus.

The incident happened at around 12.35pm during yesterday’s stormy conditions in Finchley, an area in the north of London.

The London Metropolitan Police has said that it believes the 90-year-old man was blown off the pavement and into a bus by a gust of wind.

It happened on Chaville Way, close to Finchley Central Station.

Medics arriving at the scene attempted to perform CPR, but it was too late to save the man’s life.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1pm. Officers at the scene said that they believed they knew the man’s identity and that his next of kin had been informed.

A number of road closures were in place after the incident, although these have now been removed.
