Dog walker dies after pet bolts onto road and into path of car
A dog walker has died in the UK after his pet bolted across a road into the path of a car.
The man, aged in his 60s, was walking his dog, similar to a Pug, on a lead in Dovercourt, Essex, when the animal dragged him into the road.
He suffered head injuries after the incident in the Low Road area between 7pm and 8pm.
The man went home but felt increasingly unwell and was later taken to hospital where he died, Essex Police said.
The driver who stopped at the scene to obtain the dog walker's details before driving off has since contacted police.
The dog is safe and unharmed, police said.
